We had the once-in-a-lifetime honour and privilege of performing at Maestro Bernard Haitink’s 80th Birthday Festivities last weekend.
For this special occasion, we teamed up with the pianist, Emanuel Ax, for 2 World Premiere performances where Ax stole the show (have a closer look at the poster) with his hilarious turns in our new sketches. It was pure delight to work with him and to also meet the legend that is Bernard Haitink will forever be one of our most treasured memories. His wife, Patricia, was the most gracious and generous host and “mastermind” of the festivities, and other artists performing included Dame Felicity Lott, Christianne Stotijn, Frank Peter Zimmerman, the Maestro himself, and musicians from orchestras such as Chicago Symphony, Zurich Tonhalle, Boston Symphony, Luzern Symphony, and the Royal Covent Garden. Special, to say the least…

“Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo played at my 80th birthday celebrations. I nearly died laughing. I’d like to invite them back for my 85th, but that might be considered reckless……Great musicians, great fun.”
BERNARD HAITINK

Smooching With Dame Felicity Lott, who was simply stunning in her performance of the Final Scene form Strauss’s Capriccio, with Bernard Haitink at the helm.

With the great violinist, Frank Peter Zimmerman, and his lovely wife Joo. No, not Joo, the other Joo.

Maestro Bernard Haitink and Emanuel Ax congratulating Igudesman & Joo at the end of their performance.
