BIG Nightmare Music with Igudesman and Joo

IGUDESMAN & JOO with Orchestra

IGUDESMAN & JOO’s musical madness on a symphonic scale

When IGUDESMAN & JOO perform with a symphony orchestra, the musical nightmares take on epic proportions! Fans of “A Little Nightmare Music” will be falling all over themselves to experience perennial favorites like Mozart Bond, Alla Molto Turca and Cleaning vs. Riverdancing amped up for a full-blown orchestra. But on top of priceless adaptations of pieces from their duo-show, “BIG Nightmare Music” boasts several uproarious sketches tailor-made for a symphony orchestra, drawing everyone into their act, from the first violinist to the last percussionist.

What’s more, you will have the added opportunity of hearing Igudesman and Joo perform as soloists, both in well-known concertos and in their own orchestral works.IGUDESMAN & JOO are always too BIG for any stage but now picture the duo in Wonderland after eating that cake which makes you grow… A scary thought? There you have it: “BIG Nightmare Music”!

The show includes music by Mozart, Rachmaninov, Bach, Vivaldi, Strauss, Beethoven, Igudesman, Joo.

What others say

Since our first encounter with I&J in 2011, we (the musicians & staff of the Taiwan Philharmonic) had been longing for being part of the birth of the  “Scary Concert”.  From the perfect preparation of the music scores to the super efficient rehearsals, I&J not only inspired our musicians to be more creative in performances but also bounded them with our audience even tighter.  Right after the concerts, we received many inquires about when I&J will be back for another new project …. yes, from both orchestra musicians and audience.  The  Scary Concert is the healing concert for both audience and musicians in this stiflingly busy city life.

Joyce Chiou
Executive Director, Taiwan Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO)

Prior to our thanksgiving concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Music Director Manfred Honeck and the dynamic duo Igudesman and Joo, there was much scepticism within the organization as to how the orchestra and audience would react. However, our minds were put at ease the minute they arrived! They were incredibly professional, obviously very talented, and provided a breath of fresh air for the orchestra and PSO staff. It was such a joy to have them with us, and we received such great feedback from our patrons and the musicians that we immediately reinvited them to join us for a special concert with the orchestra the following year!

Bob Moir
Senior VP Artistic Planning - Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

“Their blend of classical music and comedy, laced with pop culture references and a wholly novel take on the word slapstick, is fueled by genuine, dazzling virtuosity.”

The New York Times
Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim
